About SolonardSolonard is a fantasy world creation project initiated by Theoderich II in 2004. The entire project is hosted on ModCraft since July 2008 and has become ModCraft's first German community working on a completely separated board. Now we are slowly moving our content to the ModCraft board. Our goal is to create an entire new fantasy world with all aspects we can think of, i.e. story writing, artwork, world politics, myths, poems, games and much more. As for the games we are currently developing the fourth version of our Koriden trading card game and the third version of our pen & paper roleplaying game Castles & Kerloks. But our community is not only project-oriented. In our tavern members can talk about everything (as long as it doesn't violate the community rules of course), including books, movies, computer games, music, real life etc. We have even introduced a forum especially for community activities like thread games! The GamesCastles & Kerloks: CommenceThere existed already a version of Castles & Kerloks in 2006. The rules of this first version were more or less similar to the Dungeons & Dragons rules. The rulebook for second version has never been published. But since February we are working on a complete new game from scratch. As it is a total relaunch we named it 'Castles & Kerloks: Commence'. With this game we aim for revolutionary concepts and different approaches on roleplaying. We want easy rules, easy gameplay, low values and give our players a realistic roleplaying experience in a dynamic and constantly growing world. Features are for example: a.) no Mana - magic spells can only be casted using magic gems. For each magic rank you need another sort of gems. The most powerful spells need sapphires and diamonds for example. b.) no levels - if you want to play this game for powerleveling an imba character you search vainly. We have a different kind of 'level up' based on how well and elegant you fight in battle. This allows 'low levelers' to visit 'high level' dungeons with their 'high level' companions. (to stay with the common terms). c.) unique classes - Classes are for example: Grenadier, Huskarl, Pavesier, Erl, Fey Hunter, Dark Mage... d.) ultimate fighting system - Mages can use shields and helebards, warriors two two-handed weapons! There are 6 defense skills, 7 weapon masteries, 13 everyday-use skills, Aggro and initiative. Koriden aurochKoriden auroch is the fourth version of our trading card game. The TCG is even older than the roleplaying game. Its sources for ideas have come from the very first story 'Kappuchino'. Since then we were developing card rules. One of the main concepts we wanted to have for this game was extensibility and modularity. The current rulebook contains more optional parts than strict rules. You can choose playing with life points or not, with dice modes or not, limited decks or additional side decks. Our next step will be to provide some kind of online deck builder. It should be possible to save the users' decks online and to create a printable version or even export it as a PDF file. Dreams of the future... What does 'auroch' mean? The first one of you who figures that out may send me an email and he or she gets a dedicated news item on the board and homepage and will be listed in the Important members section below. Koriden VisualThe Koriden Visual deck builder is a sub project of Koriden auroch aiming to create a piece software which enables users to compose their decks virtually. In future it should be possible to print them out as well. In the current state we are discussing and planning software design, framework and card design. If you know web technologies like Java, PHP, HTML, CSS or Photoshop you are invited to join the developers team. Otherwise we'd like to see and welcome you as beta tester or card forger! OpenFantasyOne of our intentions was to offer this world to a broad public audience. Therefore we decided to license the whole project under the Creative Commons License 3.0 (by-sa) United States which allows everyone to copy, spread, modify, or even sell our works as long as the original copyrights remain and the modification is published under the same license. Everyone should have the freedom to contribute or take away ideas to respectively from this world. If you weren't sure the 'Open' comes of course from OpenSource. We do this for fun and because we love fantasy! |
